Our 2016 windows are up!  Ten Tiffany windows in Jenners up South St David’s Street, Edinburgh are now showing Sheila’s latest jewellery collections. You may remember the wonderful fusion of jewellery and art created by Sheila with her graphic designer Gina Ramsay last year?

This year along with her team, Sheila chose to work with Jodie Mann, an up-and-coming, young freelance photographer. Jodie describes herself as a visual storyteller and, like Sheila, she explores Scotland’s landscape, history and legends in her work.

Last Thursday Sheila and our display specialist, Eva Herdman, spent a busy day preparing the 2016 windows. The ten jewellery window displays feature all Sheila’s latest designs in silver and enamel, with some also in gold and handset with gemstones.  Here Eva is patiently putting the final touches to the displays which took over 5 hours to set up.

Meanwhile outside the graphics were going up! First up was Chantal Hoyberghs from Belgium wearing Sheila’s new Lunar collection – see our Lunar blog. Eva managed to get some photos of the windows going up as well as arranging the jewellery displays with Sheila.

Chantal and her husband are customers of Sheila’s who visited her Workshop while on holiday in Orkney. Sheila felt her striking Nordic look was perfect for her new Lunar collection and asked if she would model the following evening – she kindly agreed! We took Chantal to the Ring of Brodgar where Jodie took this flowing picture.

Chantal was at home with the ancient megaliths and works with energies.

We also photographed Leonie Scott wearing Sheila’s Runic necklet at Brodgar. This necklet reads “Reflecting Times Past and Present”. Leonie grew up in Orkney and is related to Sheila. She is also a local nursery teacher and a great favourite of Sheila’s grandson, Hamish.

The picture Jodie took of Leonie is below in the right hand window and is also on our Facebook page. We were impressed Jodie could photograph with two cameras while walking backwards!

Next up, in the second window, is Brogen wearing Pentland. The Pentland collection is dedicated to the swirling stretch of tidal water running between the Orkney Islands and Mainland Scotland.  The movement, shapes and colours of the sea remain an enduring source of inspiration for Sheila.

Brogen is Gina’s younger sister and our youngest model at just 16 years old, but she was a natural. Sheila’s models cover all age ranges from 16 to over 60. We thank Orkney fashion designer, Kirsteen Stewart, for the loan of the beautiful scarf Brogen is wearing.

After a lovely evening at Brodgar it rained (it was April!) so we did some more inside shots in the Tankerness Hall near Sheila’s Workshop with Leonie, Brogen and Orkney art graduate, Louise Barrington.

Sheila met Louise at the exhibition she sponsored for recent Orkney art graduates. Louise has incredibly long locks of auburn hair, Jodie did the models’ make-up and hair as well as taking the photographs while Gina, Louise and Eva helped with styling their costumes and jewellery, all co-ordinated with Sheila.

In this captivating picture Louise is wearing the Tidal Garnet pendant and matching earrings in gold. This is a new design from Sheila, symbolizing love woven into the waves of time.  The scarf is another Kirsteen Stewart design.

Last but not least, we persuaded Gina to move to the other side of the camera. These were the last pictures taken that very busy weekend at the end of April.

As the wind blew, rain fell and the light faded on the cliffs of Yesnaby, Jodie captured the rustic mood of Sheila’s new Brodgar Eye collection in this dramatic picture with Gina at the cliff edge.

Heartfelt thanks to all our tremendous models, to Kirsteen for loaning us the latest in Orkney fashion, to Jodie for making the trip to Orkney and taking the wonderful pictures in the windows for Sheila’s jewellery. Sheila gives Jodie a well-earned pat on the back as well as one to her whole team.
